The Centro Culturale Italiano di Buffalo is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote Italian culture in the Western New York area. The Center will be a place where Italians, Italian-Americans, and individuals with an interest in Italian culture may meet and interact.

The primary goal of the Center is to provide Italian lessons so as to preserve the Italian language in Western New York. Focusing on families and children, additional goals are to promote Italian culture and traditions such as La Befana, Carnevale, and the St. Joseph's Table.

The Center will include a library of Italian books, magazines, newspapers, and films as a resource for the community. Live video from RAI International will be available as well as Italian radio. Other planned activities include cooking classes, televised sporting events, guest speakers, and presentations.

The Centro Culturale Italiano di Buffalo will also serve as a resource for exchange students to and from Italy and for individuals who travel to Italy for business or pleasure.

Plans are also underway to establish an Italian Heritage Center so that many of the untold stories of local Italian immigrant families may be preserved. Resources will also be available to assist Italian-Americans to research their ancestry.

Italian Lessons

I have news which I wish to share with you –our mayor has given the North Park library on Delaware and Hertel to the CCI for development, and we take the challenge and wish to pro-mote this beautiful building as a splendid place to visit.
Our plan is to have a heritage center with sound proof cubicles to give people the opportunity to register a story of their family history, classrooms to teach the Italian language, a kitchen for tasty Italian specialties, and an auditorium for musi-cal concerts, art exhibits and group dinners. Centered on family, the new center also plans to offer summer programs for children.
To meet this challenge, we need to raise over a million dollars! So, I appeal to you all to share the news of our new center to your friends, and make a donation in any amount to the CCI of Buffalo for this endeavor. I assure you that all donors will be recognized.
Please make checks payable to CCI Building Fund, 1510 Hertel Ave, Buffalo NY 14216.
